After a grueling day of travel we are here with no travel delays and in a nice hotel room. Things of interest that we observed:
1.) The gate agent didn't even look at our boarding passes when got on the plane in Detroit for Tokyo. That proved troublesome for two people who were trying to go to New York but ended up on our plane and didn't know it until we were in the air
2.) The plane was full of college kids from China heading home for winter break. I asked two of them if their brothers and sisters were excited to see them. They looked at me funny and then reminded me of the one child policy.

Welcome to our journey...
We are the proud parents of a 2 1/2 year old son and are anxious to expand our family. We made the decision to pursue adoption from China in July of 2007. On July 11, 2008 we were matched with a little girl, Gao Si Feng, living in an orphanage in Gaozhou City in the Guangdong province. Gao Si Feng, or Layla as we have named her, was born on August 10, 2007 with a cleft lip and cleft palate.

- I have 4 year degree in interior design and 10 years experience as a designer in the contract furniture industry. My mother taught me to sew when I was a child. As a teenager, I sewed a lot of my own clothes and was even contracted to sew clothes, one prom dress, and home decor items for a number of different people. I have now branched out into quilting and have made several quilts over the past 4 years. What I enjoy most about sewing is selecting the materials and visualizing the end result.

YEAAAA!!!! We are so excited that you are there safely, and what a horrible mix up for those NYC travelers. YIKES! I am so excited for you and the joy that Layla is sure to bring to your family. Seems like you are really experiencing what Christmas is about -- rescue.

Glad to hear you guys made it. Henry is doing great. We partied him out to much last night so he was pretty excited for nap time. I read the letter to him last night and he (and brady) put a sticker on the day. Today he got his finger smushed and was upset so kathleen took him out of the room and read your letter to him again. The letters were a great idea. Have fun!!

YES! You're on the same continent as Layla! That's progress. I can't imagine those poor people who thought they were going to NY and ended up in China - yikes! Glad you guys got on all the right planes. Keep updating. Have you run yet Justin? YOu didn't take your pink speedo did you?? You might want to keep that packed if you did! Praying!
